BankFirst Financial Service
BankFirst Financial Service is a Macon, Mississippi-based full service bank with more than $300 million in assets and 10 branches. It serves more than 12,000 accounts, and some 60 percent of them are beneficiaries of their "free check program." Outsourcing the free checks was costing the bank $7.00 to $8.00 per order, so management at the institution decided to take matters in hand. They found a new cost-control strategy that would enable them to produce the checks themselves, through the acquisition of ACOM's in-house checks solution.

"Check production technology introduces a new level of flexibility in banking operations...
Banks should pay serious attention to these solutions because they present a number of very positive promotional,
customer service and fiscal advantages."
- Lynda Cooper
Assistant IS Officer

People’s
Trust
At People’s Trust in Boonville, Indiana, the cost
of their “free checks” program had represented
an annual expense of more than $30,000. However, since
the bank acquired ACOM's in-house checks solution, that expense has been reduced
to a fraction. In addition to the cost savings, since
checks are generated on-site, they are delivered to their
customers within a couple of days, not a couple of weeks,
which is a huge boost to customer service.

|
“We are sitting on a very powerful customer service
tool that lets us provide fast, personalized service and
reduce expenses at the same time. Now we find that it
can provide a great boost to our non-interest revenue
stream as well. We underestimated how powerful a system
this is.”

Marathon
Savings Bank
Marathon Savings Bank is a $134 million-asset institution
who purchased ACOM's in-house checks solution in early 2002. It brought the bank
everything it needed: control over pricing, production
and delivery; a strong competitive tool; design flexibility;
a way to increase lobby traffic and promote more services;
and an end to contract arrangements with third party checkbook
vendors, whose rising prices were causing their customers
to defect to discounters.

“When we obtained MICRPro® we hadn’t thought
much about business checks, but we’ve learned is
that there is major profit to be earned from these checks.
As much as 200-400 percent mark-up is normal and acceptable.”
- Nora Spatz
Vice President
of Operations
